I have always been drawn to bold colour and how the light plays with what I see, so my passion for glass is not surprising.
The colours of my childhood were definite and definitely not pastel; they were the colours of the family farm. Black and white Holstein cows. Green and yellow cornfields and John Deere tractors. The red brick farmhouse framed in deep purple irises. Blue skies and blue jeans and weirdly blue salt licks. The variegated browns of wet and drying mud mixed with all kinds of straw and manure.
Filtered light in shadows nuanced by gaps in the barnboard walls of the haymow. Natural art enhanced by the cracks. The chorus of Leonard Cohen’s Anthem has become the mindful lens through which I view life.
“Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
I strive to celebrate the everyday cracks.

Born and raised in Oshawa, Ontario, I came to Toronto to attend the U of T, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities. My professional career revolved around words, principally as a communications consultant and later as a psycho-educational group facilitator. Aside from occasional workshops, I have no formal art glass training. The excitement for me is the act of exploration and each piece I create, regardless of its technical success, expands my learning and my joy.
In addition to exhibits and shows coordinated by the Art Tour Collective, my work can be found at Stratford Ontario's Village Studios and the the Junction's Funkyture, A Marketplace for Creative Arts on Dundas West in Toronto.
